This Valentine’s Day, consider getting your significant other a nontraditional gift. Rather than the same old box of chocolates and roses, why not give him/her a meaningful gift that really shows you care…both about him/her and about charitable work.
Last Valentine’s Day, the fiance and I surprised each other with pet sponsorships. I got him a sponsorship of a duck at a local rescue ranch, and he got me a sponsorship of a penguin at the local zoo.
The opportunities for animal sponsorships are endless. Use PetFinder.com to find local rescue shelters in your area. Contact them about sponsoring a pet’s adoption fee and/or medical fees…they would love to have your support!
If animal rescue isn’t what you’re looking for, you can always make donations to other charities “in honor of” your significant other. Most larger nonprofits have ways for you to make donations as a gift. It just takes a little initiative on your part to find the right fit for you and your significant other.
Would you consider making a donation to charity as a gift to your significant other this Valentine’s Day?
